History

1981

Mergon is established in Ireland in 1981 as a manufacturer of technical plastic moldings. Among the first products supplied are valves for photocopiers.

1983-1988

Manufacturing facilities at the Irish plant are expanded as Mergon wins new business with international customers.
Mergon achieves the Quality Standard ISO 9000

1990

Mergon establishes a Technology Transfer Agreement with Japanese company Takagi Seiko which was the springboard to developing business with Japanese customers in Europe.

1991-1993

Mergon grows steadily, diversifying both its product range and geographical markets

1994

Significant investment in a new facility and new machinery to mould larger plastic parts is made as a second manufacturing facility is opened in Ireland.

1997

Mergon is certified to ISO 14001 the International Environmental standard.

1998

Further expansion takes place with the establishment of Mergon Corporation in Anderson, South Carolina, USA.

2004

Consolidating its position as one of the world’s leading technical molding companies, Mergon expands by opening a manufacturing facility in Brno in the Czech Republic.

2005

Mergon enters into a strategic partnership agreement with a Chinese mold maker and molder consolidating further its global network of operations.

2007

Reorganisation of operational structures into Automotive, Healthcare and Industrial to reflect specialisation and to provide a greater level of service to these particular sectors.
