Project Engineer

We want to recruit a Project Engineer to join our engineering team.

Reporting to the New Projects Manager, as Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering projects ranging from New Product Introduction to maximising the effectiveness of the machinery and equipment through Lean engineering methodologies. This position requires a huge passion and energy to manage and contribute effectively to the company business objectives, by meeting customer and manufacturing requirements to the highest possible standards.

The Project Engineer will have a key role in the identification, planning and implementation of continuous improvement projects throughout operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To work on continuous improvement projects with other support functions in the business so to maximise the assets and continuously improve on the business results.
  • To ensure Quality Assurance Requirements are achieved through effective management of resources.
  • Plan and Implement Projects focused on increasing line and people efficiencies, reducing variances and costs which are targeted to improve and/or simplify current production processes
  • Interface closely with Product Development, delivering product and process support and direction in concept design of new and existing products
  • Support the operations department in all process improvement activities including new equipment and process design and project management of same.
  • Drive projects with cross-functional support targeting improved process performance, improved product functionality, reducing variances and costs.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a relevant 3rd level qualification with 3+ years manufacturing experience post-graduation
  • Experience in moulding environment (injection or blow moulding) preferred
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement projects is essential with the ability to blend best practices from different methodologies to deliver results (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen)
  • PLC, Robotics and general Automation practical knowledge with experience of PLC programming, robotics and automation with relevant problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma Methodologies
  • CAD knowledge is desirable
  • Demonstrated methodical and analytical approach with strong attention to detail with structured approach to planning & organising
  • Be able to work on own initiative and priorities work as required
  • Have excellent communication skills

Operations Team Leader – Plant 2

Reporting to the Assistant General Manager, duties of the Operations Team Leader will include:

Production Management

  • Lead the production team to deliver against daily production plan and product specification ensuring that all machines are resourced with trained operators and that correct materials for each product are available and ready to use
  • Manage the line output ensuring it is efficient and stoppages and downtime are minimized encouraging good work pace and teamwork at all times
  • Communicate the production plan and targets for the day to the team highlighting key areas of focus for that shift
  • Manage shift changeovers in a smooth and time efficient manner ensuring that all end of shift clean down procedures are followed in line with SOP
  • Check paperwork at the end of each shift so any issues are rectified and all information is filled in correctly for excellent traceability and audit purposes
  • Ensure that equipment or processing faults are managed immediately, documenting and communicating the issues that occurred to prevent reoccurrence in the future
  • Maintain open communication with the maintenance team, the quality team, H&S and all other relevant departments to ensure effective working relationships are maintained
  • Take a lead role in the preparation of the production floor for internal and external audits. Inform your team of the audit, delegate work tasks and check agreed actions have been followed up so that the production floor is maintained in a presentable state at all times
  • Ensure machines and equipment is only operated by employees who are fully trained on all functions, programs and controls
  • Report production and quality metrics at the end of the shift and daily production meeting
  • Continually review production methods/operating procedures with a view to improving efficiency, quality and visual management
  • Ensure that all breakages, damage and faults are reported and dealt with immediately

People Management

  • Ensure all operators adhere to PPE requirements to prevent injury to the employee and contamination to product
  • Be an advocate for excellence by creating a culture of non-tolerance of poor quality and safety standards
  • Manage your team with regards to absence, lates, performance and quality issues
  • Engage with HR, training or the Quality Department as appropriate to address any issues in a timely manner
  • Ensure all team members are fully trained on the machines and corresponding SOP’s
  • Cross skill your team in all work areas in order to maximise production efficiency
  • Manage all employee grievances in a professional, fair and consistent manner following up with employees on all issues to a close out position and involving your manager at all times always ensuring a productive working environment
  • Report to your manager any team concerns so they can be managed asap
  • Ensure all operators can assess their work areas/machines and ensure it is safe to operate

  • Relevant previous experience in a supervisory role within the manufacturing industry

Quality Engineer

At Mergon International Castlepollard, we want to recruit a Quality Engineer to join our healthcare quality team.

The Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, as Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for for maintaining product quality and related documentation in accordance with the ISO13485 and ISO9001 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the quality system to the international standard ISO 13485 and all applicable regulations under the Medical Device Directives.
  • Overall responsibility for Documentation Control.
  • Evaluate and improve quality systems within the international standard ISO13485 and ISO9001 including CAPA, Internal Audit, External Audit, Vendor Control, Documentation Control and Change Control.
  • Complete Product and Process risk assessments under ISO 14971.
  • Responsibility for investigations into Product/Process non-conformances and customer complaints on both Medical and non-medical products.
  • Perform an active role in quality planning and new product introduction to the healthcare division.
  • Lead cross functional teams in continuous improvement activities, championing a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Provide training in Quality Processes and Procedures to the extended production and technical support team.
  • Maintain the training database and ensure all personnel are trained to the current revisions of all relevant quality documentation.
  • Maintenance of the calibration system.

 

Key Relationships

Quality Assurance Team: Work Closely with the Quality Team, providing support in other areas where required.

Customers: Good communication written and verbal to build excellent relationships with customers through frequent contact and visits when required, along with dealing with customer complaints.

Production: Liaise on Quality Issues.

Product Development Department: Be involved from the beginning on new projects ensuring that there is a focus on quality from the beginning.

 

Contract Duration

1 Year Full-Time Contract.

 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a relevant 3rd level qualification with 3+ years quality experience post-graduation.
  • Experience with ISO13485, ISO9001 and TS regulations an advantage.
  • Experience in moulding environment (injection or blow moulding) preferred.
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement projects.
  • The ability to blend best practices from different methodologies to deliver results (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen).
  • Demonstrated methodical and analytical approach.
  • Strong attention to detail with structured approach to planning & organising.
  • Be able to work on own initiative and priorities work as required.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
