Engineering Experience

In March 2017 as part of Engineers Week, Mergon International developed a presentation around engineering and learning about Mergon to a tailor made tour experience for Primary Level children. Building on the success of the positive feedback from that event the ‘Primary School Engineering Experience’ was developed to include:

  • An interactive presentation about what happens at Mergon and the roles of people at Mergon including videos and guessing games.
  • A tour of the factory floor, including interactive tour of the training room with the opportunity to try out the training tasks.
  • A visit to the MiCentre (Mergon Innovation Centre) and the MiCentre conference room where the children say hello to employees by video conference call to Mergon Czech or Mergon Corporation.
  • And of course, some refreshments to refuel before heading back to school.

Employees at Mergon International suggested the experience to their children’s schools and the response was extremely positive. From March to June children from nine different schools enjoyed the experience with further tours from schools already booked in for the Autumn term. The future of engineering is bright as can been seen from the creativity of some of the thank you cards forwarded by the schools after their tour.
