St Mel’s National School, Ardagh, Longford were the 20th Primary School to take part in the Mergon International ‘Engineering Experience’ kicking off a busy schedule for Engineers Week 2020.
The Mergon Engineering Experience was developed as part of Engineers Week 2018. The programme was tailored and developed for 10-12 year olds and provides an insight into the world of engineering and manufacturing in a fun environment. Students attend an interactive presentation, have a guided tour meeting some robots and cobots along the way, enjoy some friendly competition in the training centre and meet some of the engineering team at the MiCentre (Mergon Innovation Centre).
St. Mel’s 6th class students also took part in the marshmallow challenge – fun while learning!
Since this programme launched 2 years ago Mergon International has welcomed over 600 primary school students to the Engineering Experience. We look forward to opening our doors to many more students in the future and introducing them to the exciting world of STEM.
